Hyogo’s growing transportation deserts

July 19, 2017February 25, 2023mandali

Awaji City, population 45,000, is one of the main connecting points between the picturesque and vibrant town of Kobe with Shikoku, one of the four main islands comprising Japan. And while the flow of traffic continues unabated, especially with the fast bus services, many of these don’t stop in Awaji City making it difficult for […]

Theme park automated driving in Nagasaki

June 18, 2017February 25, 2023mandali

My memories of Nagasaki remain set in the fog and pouring rain of a dark December weekend back in 2000. Especially dark as I drove most of the day up from Miyazaki Prefecture where I was living to visit a friend in hospital there. I remember spending a long time driving around trying to find […]

Fukuoka: hyper-small villages and automated fruit transport

August 16, 2017February 25, 2023mandali

ABOUT

Mandali is a software engineer/executive raised in London and Paris, now based in Tokyo Japan for the last 15 years. This website shares his thoughts related to automated driving and advanced safety systems, as well as other interests such as music, lifestyle, video and other projects.

Over the years I have been fortunate to work across Germany, the UK, France, China, Singapore and of course Japan, gaining a strong understanding of what it takes to be a global leader. Some highlights from my professional life include helping Toyota stand up its autonomy software company Woven Planet and growing it to 2,000+ staff, being the former Chair of non-profit ITS Japan’s Automated Driving Support Center and named one of the top tech entrepreneurs in Asia. Outside of work, I’m a from-time-to-time musician (DJing/music production/guitar-vocal) and video gamer (still discovering my new PlayStation 5).
